Iron Deficiency Anemia Screening

g/dL
mcg/L
mcg/dL

Screen for iron deficiency anemia using hemoglobin, ferritin, and TIBC values. Clinical reference tool for identifying iron deficiency severity and determining need for further evaluation or treatment.

Formula

Severity = Hemoglobin level category; Iron Status = Ferritin + TIBC combined assessment
  • Female: Hb 12-16 g/dL normal; Male: 13.5-17.5
  • Ferritin <30 mcg/L = low iron
  • TIBC >360 mcg/dL = increased binding capacity

Iron Deficiency Anemia

Inputs
  • Hemoglobin (g/dL): 10 g/dL
  • Ferritin (mcg/L): 15 mcg/L
  • TIBC (mcg/dL): 420 mcg/dL
  • Sex: F

Hb 10 (deficit 4), Ferritin 15 (low), TIBC 420 (high) → Mild iron deficiency anemia.
