The Baby Formula Cost Calculator estimates how much you'll spend on infant formula each month. Enter how many grams of powder your baby uses per day, the size of a tin, and its price, and it works out how many tins you'll need per month and the total monthly cost. It's a quick way to budget for formula feeding and compare brands or tin sizes.

  • Estimates in PKR based on your inputs.

Formula

Tins/month = grams/day × 30 ÷ tin size; Monthly = tins × tin price
  • Monthly cost depends on how fast your baby goes through powder and the price per gram of the tin you buy.
  • Tins per month = (grams per day × 30) ÷ tin size; Monthly cost = tins per month × tin price.
  • Input definitions: • Formula powder per day: grams of powder used in 24 hours (from the tin's scoop chart). • Tin size: net weight of powder in one tin, in grams. • Tin price: what you pay for one tin.
  • Bigger tins usually cost less per gram, so comparing price-per-gram can cut your monthly spend.
  • Daily powder use rises as your baby grows, so recalculate every month or two for an accurate budget.
  • This is an estimate — actual use varies with appetite, growth spurts, and how precisely scoops are measured.

Example Calculation

Inputs
  • Formula Powder per Day: 120 g
  • Tin Size: 400 g
  • Tin Price: 1800 Rs

At 120 g of powder a day, a baby uses 120 × 30 = 3,600 g a month. With 400 g tins that's 9 tins, and at Rs 1,800 per tin the monthly cost is about Rs 16,200.

Frequently asked questions

How is monthly formula cost calculated?
Daily powder use is multiplied by 30 to get the monthly amount, divided by tin size to find tins needed, then multiplied by the tin price.
How much formula powder does a baby use per day?
It depends on age and weight, but the tin's feeding chart shows grams (or scoops) per feed. Multiply by the number of daily feeds.
How can I lower formula costs?
Compare price-per-gram across tin sizes and brands, buy larger tins when practical, and avoid wasting powder by measuring scoops accurately.
Will the cost change as my baby grows?
Yes. Babies use more formula as they get bigger, so monthly cost rises until solids are introduced. Recalculate periodically.
Does the price include feeding equipment?
No. This estimate covers only the formula powder. Bottles, sterilisers, and water are separate costs.
Are store brands cheaper?
Often yes, and many meet the same nutritional standards as premium brands. Check the price-per-gram and ingredient list to compare.
