Formula

Listening time = Length ÷ Speed; Effective WPM = Base WPM × Speed
  • Actual listening time is the audiobook's normal-speed length divided by your playback speed.
  • Time saved is the normal length minus the sped-up listening time. Speeds below 1× add time instead of saving it.
  • Effective words-per-minute is the narrator's base pace multiplied by the speed; typical narration is around 150 wpm at 1×.
  • At 1.5× a 10-hour book takes about 6 h 40 m; at 2× it takes 5 hours.
